lecture 4/13

This lecture Mark Shetabi spoke briefly about painting before the other group of artists came in. Mark talked about what people have used in the past as paint and what it was made of and where it all started. he also talked about how there is no progress in painting and that you have to go backwards to move forwards sometimes. The next group of artists were a sculpture major, performance piece. i thought it was very interesting but at the same time i wished they would have talked about it too. this piece was interesting because they used found objects to create a beat and go with this weird music they had that was called submarine. first it was just this guy using a bow and something else (but I'm not sure what it was) to create this one noise then a guy wearing a Gorton like fisherman's outfit with boots and came in with chains and a crash cymbal with a lantern attached. then they both kept a beat with the chains and the cymbal.
