Drawing, Sculpture and Graphic Design
The lecture this week was about painting, sculpture and graphic design. Frank from the painting department and talked about the different classes they offer in drawing. he teaches landscape painting. He said that the best year to study abroad is in your junior year. another thing that he suggested is that students shouldn't choose their major now and to just try everything first. but personally I don't like drawing or painting but maybe i will take one class but i don't really have the patience to just paint or draw for six hours.Next there was Jude from the sculpture department i was lucky enough to have her as a wood shop teacher for foundations and she was really fun. she talked about what students do in the sophomore level classes and that she suggest that students take the sophomore sculpture twice since you can't learn everything in one class. she said that students learn how to weld and a sound object space relationship. right now Jude is really into the artist Tino Sehgal which he has a show going on at the Guggenheim Museum. if you ever have a question about becoming a sculpture major she is the person to ask since she knows a lot. Finally there was Scott Lazro from the Graphic and Interactive Design, this major is very competitive. this personally isn't something that i want to major in because i don't like being on the computer all the time and it does run your life at least that's how i feel. i do think that this major is very interesting though because i like how the students can design packages and things like that and that's basically it. for Graphic design majors they suggest that students go to Rome in their sophomore year since it is a very intensive program. also you need to pass with a minimum grade of a B minus in order to enter the major. if planning to go to Rome they will place students in the classes that are necessary.
